“A Dog and Her Ball”

In this project, I used a Nikon D90 camera to capture my dog on green grass with her green ball in front of her, in my backyard. I chose to capture shallow depth of field and use a high angle to create emphasis in the photograph.

Texture is important in this photograph because it adds a lot to the photograph and provides a uniqueness. An example of texture in the photograph (the element/principle identified in last sentence) is the green ball. Additionally, the use of texture in the photo is significant because it is the focal point and ties the whole photograph together.

In this photo titled, A Dog and Her Ball, I was trying to express/communicate a feeling of playfulness. In creating this work, I was inspired by my dog’s love for playing with her toys and furthermore decided to incorporate her in my photograph. She is located in the background of the photo to demonstrate a stronger sense of happiness and playfulness. When people see my photograph, I would like them to think about childhood or fun times because it is meant to remind people of playful and happy moments.

Through this project, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of capturing shallow/deep depth of field and incorporating color emphasis in my photographs. This helped me realize the importance of developing a depth of field in a photograph. As a result, I plan to include this technique in my photos whenever I get a chance..

“The Parthenon”

In this project, I used an iPhone 8 camera to capture the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. I chose to capture large depth of field and use a low angle to create depth in the photograph.

Repetition is important in this photograph because it is what makes the structure so special and unique. The most prominent example of repetition is the columns lined up one after another. The use of repetition in the photo is significant because it brings the structure together as well as create rhythm.

In this photo titled, The Parthenon, I was trying to communicate an ancient and old feeling. In creating this work, I was inspired by my previous history classes as when I was younger, I would only learn about these structures and I when I finally was able to see it in person. I incorporated the scaffolding located in the structure to portray how old and significant it is. When people see my photograph, I would like them to think about history because it is so significant .

Through this project, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of repetition in photography. This helped me realize how much repetition really adds to a photo.

“Droplets”

In this project, I used a Nikon D90 camera to capture the Snapple being poured from one glass to another in my backyard. I chose to capture shallow depth of field and use an eye level angle to create emphasis in the photograph.

Form is important in this photograph because it provides the photo some dimension to the shot and makes it seem like it’s occurring in real life, rather than in the photo. An example of form in this photograph is the glass with the Snapple being poured into the other glass which is significant because the form gives the image some depth.

In this photo titled, Droplets, I was trying to communicate a feeling of coolness. In creating this work, I was inspired by the hot summer weather which would lead most to desiring a cold drink and therefore, I incorporated the cold, almost frosted glasses with Snapple in them located as the subject of my photo to create the feeling of coolness as mentioned above. When people see my photograph, I would like them to think about summer because that is usually when cold drinks are in the hands of many.

Through this project, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of freezing photos in motion. This helped me realize how intriguing this type of photography is and as a result, I plan to practice this style of

photography more.

“Curls”

In this project, I used a Nikon D90 camera to capture my sister in front of the gray wall on the outside of my house. I chose to capture large depth of field and use a middle, eye-level angle to create emphasis in the photograph.

Texture is important in this photograph because it provides the photo more detail. An example of texture is is my sister’s curly hair; The use of texture in the photo is significant because that is what makes the photo unique.

In this photo titled, Curls, I was trying to communicate a feeling of happiness. Furthermore, In creating this work, I was inspired by my sister’s curly hair because it seemed like it would be an interesting subject matter. In turn, I incorporated her brown curls as the main focus of the photograph in order to create emphasis. When people see my photograph, I would like them to think about playfulness and happiness as in the photo these emotions are conveyed through her playful manner.

Through this project, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of slow shutter speed. This helped me realize how much it can impact and make a difference in photos. As a result, I plan to experiment more with this style of photography.

“The Cliche sunset”

In this project, I used Nikon D90 camera to capture a sunset from my backyard. I chose to capture a shallow depth of field and use a middle angle to create depth in the photograph.

Shape is important in this photograph as it is what makes the photo so beautiful. An example of shape in my photograph is the tall leaf that stands out against the background. The use of shape in the photo is significant because it creates a silhouette which makes up most of the photo.

In this photo titled, The Cliche Sunset, I was trying to express a feeling of relaxation as in creating this work, I was inspired by the sunset in the background. Furthermore, I incorporated dark subjects and a light background throughout the photo to create depth. When people see my photograph, I would like them to think about summer because that is usually when most people enjoy watching sunsets.

Through this project, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of use of negative space. This helped me realize how beautiful photos can turn out with the use of this technique . As a result, I plan to practice this type of photography more and incorporate it in more of my photos.

“London”

In this project, I used a Nikon D90 camera to capture a mini version of my sister jumping on cars. I chose to capture large depth of field and use an eye level angle to create proportion in the photograph.

Repetition and Pattern is important in this photograph because it provides the photo . An example of Repetition and Pattern is the two cars, one after another which makes it seem like the line goes on beyond the frames of the photo. The use of this principle of design in the photo is significant because it provides the photo with more of a story and more interesting subject matter.

In this photo titled, London, I was trying to express a feeling of happiness. In creating this work, I was inspired by bright colors. For example, all throughout the photo I incorporated the color red especially, to create emphasis; The red color of the bus ties together with the red color of her shirt. When people see my photograph, I would like them to think about happiness as the main subject of the photo is jumping on top of cars which portrays her apparent happiness..

Through this project, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of how the size of objects can create such interest in a photograph. As a result, I plan to explore more with this style of photography while also utilizing photoshop to enhance the photos.

Project 1 - Macro Abstract

“Orange”

In this project, I used a Nikon D90 camera to capture this painting in at my house. I chose to capture large depth of field and use a middle angle to create emphasis in the photograph.

Texture is important in this photograph because it is what essentially makes the photo so unique. An example of texture is the orange paint on the “weaved” background. The use of color is also significant because it ties the photo together as the background and paint are both a different shade of orange.

In this photo titled, Orange, I was trying to communicates a feeling of playfulness and fun. In creating this work, I was inspired by summer. For example, I incorporated the bright orange color throughout the photo and also in the final composition I put together in order to create this feeling of fun. When people see my photograph, I would like them to think about because summer and fun times because of all the bright colors.

Through this project, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of macro photography. This helped me realize how much of a difference this style of photography makes and as a result, I plan to incorporate it in more of my works and projects.
